An induction into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame is an obvious honor for any hometown artist.

But getting your own beer? Well, that’s a whole other level of celebration.

Atlanta rockers Drivin’ N’ Cryin’ recently earned their hall of fame entry, and now, Burnt Hickory Brewery in Kennesaw has produced a “DNC Anniversary” IPA.

At the Georgia Music Hall of Fame ceremony, DNC frontman Kevn Kinney said that he wasn’t involved in the creation of the brew, but added brightly, “I drink beer, if that counts!”

According to the brewery, the “heady” beer is an 8 percent IPA with a newer yeast strain and heavily hopped with a grassy spicy hop called Jarrylo.

The brewery has created beers for other rockers, but mostly hardcore bands such as Killdozer.

“I think we’re their first sort-of pop band,” Kinney said.

To celebrate the release of DNC’s brew, the band will play an unplugged set at the brewery on Oct. 8. The event is limited to 250 and carries a $50 price tag which also includes three of the DNC Anniversary bottles to take home, a limited edition DNC/BHB mason jar souvenir glass and 36 ounces of the DNC beer to be consumed on site.
