Kevn Kinney reunites the Sun Tangled Angel Revival this week at City Winery

After two highly successful nights at City Winery the Kevn Kinney Autoshop and Magic Show keeps on rolling along with some more damn fine music. Each week Kinney has delivered an incredible collection of musicians to help him out with his songs as well as play some of theirs. With every night of music setting the bar so high Kinney is having to reach deep into his bag of magic tricks to keep pace with the previous shows. This coming Tuesday night, 8/16, is another good one.
The Sun Tangled Angel Revival (STAR) was a band Kevn Kinney put together in the early aughts. Consisting of Kevn, guitar virtuoso Gibb Droll, Bryan Howard with his wicked bass playing and the rapid fire drumming of one Dave V. Johnson. With a couple of albums under their belt and a boat load of live shows the band vanished as quickly as it appeared. With no new music nor live shows from STAR in quite some time Tuesday nights reunion is a welcome sight. STAR took rock, blues and folk and blended them into one sweet sound on songs like “Fly Your Flag High”, “Madman Blues” and “The Train Don’t Stop at the Millworks Anymore”. Live they are explosive with the dual guitar attack of Kinney & Droll leading the way and Howard & Johnson keeping the pace in check. This is going to be one hell of a good set.
Just as with the previous weeks, Kinney will bring along a collection of friends that will sweeten the night’s pot. So far Kinney has not let his fans down. Make Kevn Kinney’s Autoshop and Magic Show a part of your Tuesday nights in August.
